Skill and Accuracy

Competence

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will only undertake projects and work which we are able to complete to the highest professional standards in the language areas for which we are experienced, skilled and expert.

Faithfulness

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will provide translation and interpreting which is faithful to the original source text. The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will make every effort to provide the user with the same impression from the translation that her or she would obtain if able to use the original.

Precision and Accuracy

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will provide in good faith translation and interpreting services of the greatest accuracy.  We undertake to provide fair and true translations of original texts in the light of information provided by you concerning intended language register and style, intended target audience and the purpose for which the work is to be used or relied upon.

Qualification

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will not accept any project or contract which we know ourselves to be less than fully qualified in either language or understanding of the material, except with your prior knowledge and consent.

Due Care and Diligence

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will exercise all reasonable due care and diligence regarding the bona fides of potential clients.

Confidentiality

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will not divulge any information learned in the course of any translation or interpreting project ( unless required to do so by law) and will make no effort to derive profit or benefit from any commercial, confidential or personal information we may obtain. 

Personal Information Privacy Policy

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will not provide clients'  personal details or information to any organization or company for the purpose of sales and marketing or any other purpose, without your express prior consent and will not use your information for these purposes our self.

Appropriate Professional Behavior

Professional Demeanor, Comport and Behavior

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will at all times comport ourselves in an appropriate manner, exercising discretion and propriety befitting the highest standards of professional behavior.

Impartiality and Neutrality

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will remain even-handed, dispassionate, independent and objective in all professional matters and especially in the exercise of all professional discretion and judgments concerning translation and interpreting issues.

Conflicts of Interest

Where conflicts of interest arise or could responsibly be expected to arise, or where there is a potential for the appearance for a conflict of interest, the Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will declare this to you and seek your guidance.

Timeliness

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will not accept any project or contract which we know we are unable to return fully completed in the time requested.

Ongoing Professional Development

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and Interpreters will continue to develop of our professional knowledge and expertise.

Development of the Profession

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will respect the opinion of other members of the profession and refrain from public comment damaging to the profession or demeaning of any individual.  

Professional Support

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will support fellow professionals, contribute to the good name of the profession and provide support and guidance to new and aspiring practitioners. We will to do this in particular for practicing translators working in South-East Asia and aspiring practitioners from the region wishing to enter or develop a place in the industry.

Legality

The Indonesian Translation Service and its translators and interpreters will not undertake work which is illegal, dishonest, associated in any way with breaches of the law or which is not in the public interest. We will take exercise all reasonable care and diligence in rejecting work associated with documents which are, or may be, forgeries or which may be used for any illegal, immoral or adult activity in any jurisdiction.

The Code of Ethics developed and adopted by the Indonesian Translation Service represents a melding together of many sources and is a crystallization of many years of reflection and practical professional experience.

# The Indonesian Translation Service wished to acknowledge the valuable contribution made to the development of ethical professional behaviour by the Chowan Center for Ethics which has listed the Codes of Ethics of a large number of professional organizations, the Illinois Institute of Technology Centre for the Study of Ethics in the Professions and the American Translators Association.
